Zinkstearaat is een wit poeder en is onoplosbaar in water. Voornamelijk gebruikt als smeermiddel en als vrijgavemiddel voor styreenhars, fenolhars, SMC/BMC-kunststoffen en aminohars. Tegelijkertijd heeft het ook de functie van vulkanisatie activator en ontharder in rubber.
